| | | | | Will the bike crank?
No, one of the carbs floods due to a bad seal. Gas will come out of the carb and it will not fire, well it could, but it might cause a fire . I took them off and cleaned them etc. , but something is wrong with this one carb and it needs parts. Not a hard rebuild, and should do them all, they are due. Also the carbs need to be tuned and this requires a gauge system and would need to be done at a dealers. There is a basic setting you can do without the gauges, and the bike will run pretty well, but after a rebuild it would need to be tuned. If you know this type of bike you know what I mean. If not its an hour of labor, about 75 bucks for the tune. The rebuild of the carbs is certainly a home mechanic type of thing, and I think the kit for the rebuild is not to expensive, but it will need to be ordered. Performance Yamaha in Memphis told me that the kit could be ordered and the price for the tune. Please feel free to verify the availabillty of parts and labor.
I can show it on Sunday afternoon sometime, and on Monday. After that it will be day to day due to work schedule and my availability.
If you're still interested let me know. It did run well and as far as I know nothing is wrong with the motor or transmission. Its just been sitting up for awhile. I bought a new bike and quite riding this one. I pulled the carbs cleaned them a year ago, bought new plugs etc expecting it to run, but I couldn't get the left side carb from flooding ,there are three carbs, this is a three cylinder bike. You are more than welcome to check compression etc. It needs a battery and I noticed the switch for the electric start needs to be replaced also, but I doubt that will cost very much. You can still kick start it, and to me it starts much easier if you kickstart compared to the electric start, especially if its a cold start. The kick start has some juice to it, its strong.
regards,
